Injustice: Year Four #2 Review

Injustice: Year Four is allowing the series to get back to basics as far as the ongoing war between Batman and Superman goes, even as it also begins seeding a new conflict involving the Greek gods. But while the first issue offered a solid start for this new volume, the second issue is a bit more rough around the edges.

The problem is mainly in the way the two chapters in this issue are structured. Writer Brian Buccellato bounces between a number of concurrent plot threads - Superman consolidating his power, Batman's faction struggling to maintain their resolve, Harley Quinn "abducting" Billy Batson and Renee Montoya making a one-woman stand against Superman. This issue is less than graceful about navigating those various story threads. The Harley/Billy thread especially stands out from the rest and seems like it would have been better served as a separate, standalone side-story later on, as previous writer Tom Taylor often handled the Harley material. When you're talking about a comic comprised of shorter, digital-first chapters like this, it's more efficient to focus on one conflict at a time, even if it means keeping some characters out of the spotlight for a couple weeks.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth will be adding daily, scored runs in an upcoming update.

With daily runs, players gets to take on the same level as everyone else based on a randomly generated seed, then get their score ranked against others in official leaderboards.

Spelunky and Nuclear Throne, similarly challenging games, have the same feature, which designer Edmund McMillen says he's always wanted to bring to The Binding of Isaac.

Magnetic: Cage Closed Review

“Oh, you have another box. Now you just have to figure out what to do with it.”

Yes, disembodied voice of sociopathic scientist putting me through a series of sadistic test chambers, that pretty much sums up Magnetic: Cage Closed. If you’ve played Portal, you know exactly what this routine is about, and these puzzles and their simple push-and-pull mechanics will likely feel mundane in comparison to those built around the mind-bending Portal Gun. (If you haven’t played Portal, play Portal.) Magnetic apes Valve’s puzzle game without apology, to the point of starring a mute female protagonist who’s immune to fall damage. Worse, it’s without a novel idea to make it stand out as more than a shadow of a great game.

While the mobile gaming market may be booming, its console and PC counterparts are still generating the bulk of the video game industry's revenue.

A recent report form SuperData Research estimates the global gaming market (including both consoles, PC, and mobile) will earn $74.2 billion in 2015. Of that number, mobile is expected to earn $22.3 billion worldwide, while the combined sales of retail games, digital console games, and PC downloadable content adds up to $30.3 billion. This does not include virtual reality, eSports, video content, Free-to-Play MMOs, or subscription-based MMOs.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive launched its latest event, called Operation Bloodhound, which lasts between now and September 30th.

Whether you participate in Operation Bloodhound or not, CS:GO also received a massive update, adding an entirely new feature for all players: profile ranks.

Profile ranks are separate from CS:GO's competitive skill group system. You earn XP by playing on official servers or completing Operation Bloodhound missions. XP goes towards leveling your profile rank and earning you weapons.

Assassin's Creed Players Have Spent Over 16,000 Years in Unity

Assassin's Creed Unity players have collectively played Ubisoft's open-world action game for an amount of time that rivals recorded history.

Logging over 16,000 years' worth of game time, an infographic released by Ubisoft notes that this is similar in age to the clay bison from the French Pyrenees, a primitive work of art estimated to also be approximately 16,000 years old.

Additionally, players have collectively assassinated over 4 billion high-profile game characters and killed over 8 billion non-player characters, most likely using the most popular in-game weapons like the Sword of Eden, the Pepper Shot, and The Foil. Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings Coming to Xbox One and PC

Arcade baseball game Super Mega Baseball is headed to Xbox One and PC (via Steam) in the coming months, developer Metalhead Software announced today.

Released last year on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, the goofy baseball sim will come to Xbox One and PC as Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings. This latest version of the game will include two new stadiums, as well as several unspecified new features and improvements, according to a blog post by the developer.

The new content will also make its way to PlayStation owners through an update or free DLC.

Super Mega Baseball will be the third baseball game on Xbox One. Currently, the console's only baseball sims are RBI Baseball 14 and 15 -- neither of which we were particularly impressed with.

CD Projekt Red Won't Talk About Cyberpunk 2077 Until 2017

Polish developer CD Projekt Red has revealed it will be focusing on The Witcher 3 for the next couple of years, before speaking about Cyberpunk 2077.

Speaking to Reuters, studio chief executive Adam Kicinski explained that while the company sold over 1.5 million copies of The Witcher 3 before release, compared with 1 million and 1.7 million total annual sales of the first and second games, respectively, there's a firm belief Cyberpunk 2077 can do even better.

"Sales of the third part will be many times higher than with our earlier games. Preorders indicate this," he said. "We broke into the mainstream. It is such a moment in our firm's history that after some years people will look differently at CD Projekt before and after this release.

Batman: Arkham Knight Gets Yet Another Pre-Order Bonus

Warner Bros. has revealed another pre-order bonus for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight.

The Gotham's Future pre-order bonus was spotted on Steam and comes with two skins - Batman Beyond from the animated series, and Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns.

While it's currently unclear if this is a Steam exclusive or we'll see it on consoles, it's the latest move in a fairly controversial run with regards to Arkham Knight's DLCs and bonuses. Alongside the previously revealed Harley Quinn pre-order bonus, an expensive Season Pass and the option to play as Batgirl, it looks like it's going to be pretty difficult to pick up the definitive version of the game for a reasonable price. At least until the inevitable Game of the Year edition is released.

The Witcher 3 Getting More Free DLC This Week

CD Projekt Red has announced the contents of the third and fourth free DLC bundles coming to The Witcher 3 later this week.

The first two of a planned 16 such offerings arrived last week, and included the Temerian Armor Set available from a merchant in White Orchard and an extensive array of additional beards and hairstyles for Geralt.

Now, CDPR has revealed a new Witcher contract will be available later this week, called "Missing Miners". In it, you'll have to discover why miners from a small village near Skellige are disappearing. The other piece of DLC we'll see this week is a new look for Yennefer.

Free Update for Dirt Rally adds Pikes Peak

Codemasters has released a new, free update for Dirt Rally which adds the world-famous Colorado, USA hillclimb course Pikes Peak to the impressive rally simulator.

The route comes to Dirt Rally in two guises, a full asphalt version and a mixed surface version.

The update also includes a trio of specialist hillclimbing vehicles to tackle Pikes Peak with; Codemasters has added hillclimb versions of the Peugeot 405 T16, the Peugeot 205 T16, and the Audi Sport quattro S1.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the second-oldest motorsports event in the USA, second only to the Indianapolis 500.

The real course is all paved now, unfortunately.

Will the Need for Speed Reboot Capture the Original Essence of the Series?

Last week EA revealed its 2015 Need for Speed game, and it’s just called Need for Speed. No colon, no cute subtitle. Pitched as a “full reboot”, EA promises Need for Speed will draw on what it considers the core pillars of the series: “deep customisation, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that pulls you through the game.” Ghost Games, in its words, is seeking to go back to the roots of Need for Speed.

Thing is, I’m not sure I necessarily agree these are, in fact, the roots of the Need for Speed series. They’re certainly part of the franchise’s identity now, but it’s worth remembering Need for Speed certainly wasn’t always about “nocturnal open worlds”, “immersive narratives,” or urban anything. This kind of content was introduced in the fun and very successful Need for Speed Underground, itself somewhat of a reboot for the Need for Speed series.

New Crypt of the NecroDancer Mod Features Mega Man

A mod for Crypt of the NecroDancer has added Mega Man and several of his friends into the rhythm-based roguelike on PC.

Created by Steam modder CutmanMike, Crypt of the MegaDancer has completely converted Crypt of the NecroDancer into a Mega Man-themed rhythm game featuring key characters from the Blue Bomber's 8-bit glory days.

The mod's Steam page announces new graphics, sound files, and leaderboards have been added to MegaDancer. It is currently available as a 30MB download for those who currently own Crypt of the NecroDancer on Steam.

Warcraft Director on ILM's Orc-Sized VFX Challenge

Director Duncan Jones recently opened up about the filming of his 2016 film Warcraft, revealing more about the filming process and his crew.

Wired reports that ILM wanted to be involved with the VFX work for Warcraft, departing from their typical work for the chance to try something new and exercise their abilities as special effects creators.

"(For) ILM, this was an opportunity to show they are still the best in the world at special effects,” Jones said.

While filming, Jones recalls being more preoccupied with directing performances, leaving the motion-capture work to VFX supervisor Bill Westenhoefer and ILM's Jeff White and Jason Smith.

SOMA Website Launches ARG

Telltale's Game of Thrones: Episode 4 Review

This action-heavy episode does a great job of breaking Telltale’s Game of Thrones out of its various rutts. Though Mira’s time in Kings Landing is shorter than usual, everyone else picks up the slack as we see Gared finally embark on his journey north, Rodrik break the cycle of abuse by the Whitehills, and Asher work to gain the favor of Daenerys Targaryen.

Sons of Winter opens with Gared in custody and facing severe punishment after having killed Britt, the former Bolton soldier who’d murdered his family, at the end of Episode 3. I was annoyed that there’s no way to convince the Night’s Watch that Gared had acted in self defense, even with an eye witness corroborating his story (I tried this a few times). Naturally this is the kind of forced outcome we’re all used to in Telltale’s games, but in this case the writers seemed to go out of their way to make it feel implausible. Those events are a means to a good end, though, as they lead to Gared setting out to find the North Grove. Running across a pack of Wildlings creates one of several good action scenes in this episode. (Slight spoiler: though there’s a White Walker in the title screen image for this episode, none actually appear. That’s a bit of a tease.)

Evolve's New Free DLC is Out Now

Today, 2K has announced that Evolve is getting a new mode called Arena, and it’s live right now as you’re reading this.

In this new mode, a stage 2 monster squares off against a full team of four hunters to the death in a best of three series played within enclosed arenas. Each of Evolve’s 14 maps will host five such arenas each for a total of 70 possible battlegrounds.

This is significant for players who don’t like having to track the monster in order to fight them, as they now have a way to get straight into an engagement without any of the build up. Perhaps best of all, Evolve’s new Arena mode is completely free.

The Witcher Was Nearly A Diablo-Inspired Top-Down ARPG

The Witcher developer CD Projekt RED originally pitched the popular RPG as a top-down, Diablo-esque action role-playing game.

In a recent video, former project lead Ryszard Chojnowski offered insight into the "humble beginnings" of the RPG series, revealing that the 2002 demo -- inspired by Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and built using the same engine that powered 1999's Mortyr -- had little progression, only one Witcher sign, and hadn't even placed Geralt as the leading character, a decision that the developer thought kept in line with the novels..

A year later, the demo version was dropped, and the studio began the four-year campaign to develop The Witcher as we know it today.

Bioshocks Lead Designer Reveals New Horror Game

There's something strange about the estate on Echo Bluff.

After months of seeing the place in haunting visions, Cassie has finally found the real thing, overlooking the ocean in Gloucester, Massachusetts. And now, she's taking the chance to explore it, despite the fact that she's blind.

So goes the description for Perception, the Kickstarter project from Deep End Games. The studio is composed almost entirely of developers who worked on Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite, including Bill Gardner, Deep End's founder. He was design director on Bioshock, and lead designer on Infinite, both of which garnered critical praise in their own right for their first-person storytelling. With Perception, though, Gardner wants to change how horror games are played.

Ninja Theory builds a better lightsaber.

No disrespect to Mickey or Woody or Elsa, but I’ve always only ever really had two questions for the team beyond Disney’s toys-to-life game, Infinity. First, where’s Spiderman? And second, where’s Luke Skywalker? After last year’s rollout of Marvel in Infinity’s 2.0 launch, it seemed a sure bet that Star Wars wouldn’t be far behind. Disney finally revealed that Star Wars is coming this fall in a three-part rollout.

The first piece is called Twilight of the Empire, and it focuses on the prequel trilogy and The Clone Wars cartoon. (Information on the other two parts – Rise of the Empire and The Force Awakens – has not yet been released.) The core of the story involves leading the Republic forces in a battle against the Separatists.

Ayami Kojima Joins Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Team

Ayami Kojima will be creating special packaging artwork for some Kickstarter backers of Koji Igarashi's new game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Kojima has previously worked alongside Igarashi on the "Igavania"-style games, such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Harmony of Despair, doing character design and illustration. Her art will be on the packaging that's associated with the $100+ tiers on Kickstarter.

Although Kojima has said she can "only offer a small amount of time" to the project, Igarashi said that the "most important thing is just being able to work closely with my old friends again. We created something amazing before and to get one more golden opportunity to do this again makes me so happy."

Hearthstone Pros on the State of the Game

Hearthstone has changed a great deal since it was officially launched more than a year ago. In that time we've seen two adventures released - Curse of Naxxramas and Blackrock Mountain - both of which introduced 30 new cards to the game alongside PVE content. We've also seen one expansion - Goblins vs Gnomes - which dramatically expanded the card set, adding more than 120 new cards.

While Hearthstone's meta game is in a constant state of flux, the dust is definitely settling on the new cards introduced in Blackrock Mountain, so I thought it might be fun to take the pulse of the pro/streamer scene. Capcom Announces Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster

Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in early 2016, Capcom revealed today.

The announcement, spotted via Dengeki Online, doesn’t detail pricing information, editions or launch information for regions other than Japan. Hints of its existence surfaced in December when a Biohazard Zero game icon appeared on Capcom's Japanese site.

The survival horror game was first released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2002 as a prequel to Resident Evil 1. We thought it was scary, fun and flawed, and we loved it.

Get Your Grapple On in Grand Theft Auto 5 PC

If you felt GTA V would be improved by the addition of the grappling hook mechanic from Just Cause 2, then you're in luck. A modder has added the hook to the PC version of the game and the results are about as awesome as you'd expect them to be.

The first shot fires the hook at a target and the second shot attaches the end to whatever's clever, meaning all those smack-talking pedestrians who populate Los Santos can now be hooked to passing traffic and dragged off into the sunset.

It can also be used to move around rapidly, as is the case in Just Cause 2, pulling your character from one place to the other. The lack of infinitely deployable parachutes means the mod isn't 100% on par with the preferred method of movement in Just Cause 2.

Gauntlet Is Getting a Free, Massive Update

Gauntlet developer Arrowhead Game Studios has announced it will be releasing a major update for its dungeon-crawling PC action game, and it will be completely free of charge.

"We have big improvements and a few new features coming up for Gauntlet! Something which we know a lot of you were crying out for," Arrowhead's Emil Englund explained in a post the studio's official site.

"In truth, we were never fully satisfied with how Gauntlet turned out," Englund continued. "So, rather than just fixing little things here and there, we have been working on the core of the game to turn it into what we originally envisioned."

Latest Patch for The Witcher 3 Improves PC Visuals

CD Projekt RED has just released a new patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, providing a number of technical fixes as well as a few noteworthy visual improvements to the PC version of its critically-acclaimed action-RPG.

On the graphical front, Patch 1.04 boosts the texture rendering quality for those running the game on high or ultra. Additionally, "further improvements" have been make to the performance of NVIDIA Hairworks. Boat stuttering in cutscenes has been fixed as well, and those running the game in 1280 x 720 will now be able to get it to display properly.

On top of the obvious improvements to "overall stability and performance" the patch resolves an issue with the dialog system, which would occasionally result in conversation loops. Better yet, those using a keyboard and mouse will be pleased to know that key rebinding is now available as well.

If you've been itching to try out Street Fighter V, you might be in luck. Community Effort Orlando (CEO) in Orlando, Florida has announced that a playable Street Fighter V demo will be on-hand at the fighting game tournament.

A premier event on the Capcom Pro Tour, CEO made the announcement during the Combo Breaker Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament live stream.CEO takes place from June 26-28.

This will mark the first time a playable demo of Street Fighter V will be available to the public.

Enhanced Version of Guilty Gear X2 Coming to Steam

Arc System Works has revealed that an enhanced version of Guilty Gear X2 is coming to PC via Steam.

Set to release on May 26, 2015, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is also the first game published by Arc System, according to its official Twitter account, which links to a Steam listing.

Accent Core Plus R is the fourth edition of Guilty Gear X2, which released on PlayStation 2 in 2002. The game features new “Gatling combos” and “Dust” attacks, 25 playable characters, and ranked and player match online modes. IGN called it one of the worst fighting games for new players to pick up on. Accent Core Plus R released on PS Vita in 2013.

Battlefield 4's Next Patch Has a Release Date

The latest patch for Battlefield 4 will go live on Tuesday, May 26, DICE has announced.

A total of five new weapons are being added to the fray, including a new assault rifle, carbine, PDW, sidearm, and LMG. On top of that, the new update adds Battlefield 3's Gun Master mode.

Lords of the Fallen Is Getting a GOTY Edition

City Interactive and Deck 13's Lords of the Fallen is getting a Game of the Year release next month.

As is typical with most GOTY editions, this re-release includes a whole bunch of post-launch content, including the Ancient Labyrinth DLC, the Demonic Weapons and Lionheart packs, new weapons, armor, and more.

Lords of the Fallen is often compared to Dark Souls for its level design and difficult gameplay. Executive producer Tomasz Gop has addressed this sentiment, making a case for why its action-RPG should be judged on its own merits.

Nothing defines "massively multiplayer" quite like raids. Other genres may tell better stories or make it more fun to smash things with big hammers, but when it comes to bringing together dozens of players and letting them invent and coordinate complex strategies to defeat huge bosses, the MMORPG remains the top of the pile. Not all raids are created equal, however, so we decided to make a list of some of the greatest raid bosses of all time.

One drawback of the MMORPG genre is that it's impossible to experience the vast majority of the bosses listed here in their original states. Expansions bring new level caps, and the godly challenges of yesteryear become soloable by the sorriest player. Games shut down, key abilities for strategies get removed or rebalanced, and interest in old content wanes. But in their heyday, each of the 10 bosses chronicled below was something to behold (and fear).

Now that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is here, there's plenty of real world loot to get your hands on. Plus there's also an incredibly large Geralt Statue to feast your eyes upon.

A classic cloth map, two playable decks from the Gwent card game, a miniature Geralt statue, and more are packed into this large box that's lined with the signature's of the CD Projekt Red development team.

Quite possibly the biggest IGN unboxing ever, the folks over at CD Projekt Red sent us an incredibly large, lifelike stature of Gearlt. We may or may not have been able to fit it through our doors.

Let's Play All 3 Carmageddon Games With the Developers

Carmageddon ruffled a lot of feathers when it originally released in 1997. But it was also a damn fine arcade combat racer. Its sequel, 1998's Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now, refined the formula and expanded the gameplay. And after a couple of other Carmageddon games not done by the original development team at Stainless Studios, the founding creators now have the rights to the IP back. They Kickstarted Carmageddon: Reincarnation in 2012, and the game is now finished and released on Steam for PC.

Stainless' Neil "Nobby" Barnden, the co-founder of the studio, stopped by IGN to play through all three of the Carmageddons. Blade & Soul: Where Crouching Tiger and MMOs Intersect

Considering it launched in Korea back in June 2012, Blade & Soul has certainly taken its time to come West. Now with a closed beta planned for autumn and full launch finally locked in before the end of the year, the long wait is finally coming to an end. According to NCSoft, the reason behind such a delay is because the MMO’s story, which fully incorporates the Chinese genre of “Wuxia”, needed time to be localised. Having actually had a chance to play bits of the game myself, however, I’m not convinced the wait didn’t do more harm than good.

I’m getting ahead of myself. Blade & Soul is a free-to-play MMO originating in Korea, with a story and setting reminiscent of films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero or House of Flying Daggers. It aims to differentiate itself from most other MMOs through both this setting, and zones designed with verticality in mind, which you traverse like a true kung fu master by running up walls, running along branches and gliding through the skies using the power of your chi. While the aesthetic makes a nice superficial change, it’s the foundational differences offered by the design mentality that make the biggest impact. While so many MMOs can feel like the same game with different skills, the freedom given to explore zones however you want feels fresh… at least at first. After a couple of hours however, it unfortunately just felt that instead of exploring zones horizontally I also had another axis to slog across when making my way back to quest-givers, rather than the fresh gameplay experience I was promised.

F1 2015 Release Date Pushed Back in Europe

Codemasters has confirmed the release of F1 2015 in Europe has been pushed back from June 12 to July 10, 2015 in Europe.

To soften the blow, the studio has also released a new gameplay trailer for the racing sim -- which boasts a new game engine and enhanced handling system -- heading to the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later this year.

UK players who pre-order the game from GAME will receive "exclusive pre-order items" including a F1 2015 metal case and a hints 'n' tips guidebook entitled 'Race Like a Champion'.

We've reached out to Codemasters to confirm if the game is also delayed in other territories and, as always, will update you just as soon as we know more.

Activision Shows off New Weapons and Gear in Advanced Warfare

Activision has released a new video for Advanced Warfare, showing off some new multiplayer content.

The video shows players a new weapon and some character gear, which Xbox owners can access right now. The new weapon – the M1 Irons Base Pistol – handles like an old-school Western revolver. If you’re after some different weapon skins, there’s also a variant for the aforementioned M1 Irons, as well as the SAC3 sub-machine gun.

No details on when PlayStation or PC players can expect this update, other than “soon.”

Final Fantasy 14 Heavensward Dungeons and Jobs Shown Off

Final Fantasy XIV's first expansion, Heavensward, has shown off two new trailers detailing the dungeons and moves set to be added to the popular MMO.

The latest Letter from the Producer Live aired yesterday, with Naoki Yoshida discussing what we can expect to see come launch.

Among other tidbits of information, Yoshida revealed the Fat Chocobo mount will be able to fly and the zones in the videos appear to be between 2-4 times bigger than those currently in 2.0. Additionally, it's been revealed monsters are tuned to be more difficult than they were in the original game to really push players.

 

We recently got a chance to go hands-on with the expansion and explore some of its new zones, as well as chat with Yoshida about how the game was turned around and what the future holds. For more on both of those, be sure to come back to IGN early next week.

Are Early Game Demos Misleading?

Earlier this week The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red admitted the final version of its acclaimed role-playing game isn't quite visually on par with some of the early demos, which got the IGN UK Podcast crew thinking - are early game demos misleading? We've certainly been burnt in the past, notably from Watchdogs and Aliens: Colonial Marines, neither of which matched first looks of the games, but what's the alternative?

Alex, Luke and Gav also round up the best and worst stories of the week - the rum and the bum, if you will - and give their recommendations on what to watch and play this weekend.

Nobuo Uematsu Reveals New Final Fantasy Song

Legendary Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu has returned to the franchise to compose the main theme for Final Fantasy XIV's first expansion, Heavensward.

The new song, which you can hear below set to footage from both A Realm Reborn and the upcoming expansion, features vocals by Susan Calloway and is solidly recognisable as one of his compositions.

At PAX East it was announced Square Enix's MMO will be getting its first expansion in June. Heavensward was announced last October at a Final Fantasy Fan Festival and will include a new race, new jobs, airship, and of course, new raids. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn currently has over 4 million registered accounts, which is a leap from 2.5 million accounts at the end of last year.

Overwatch: Here's 9 Minutes of Gameplay for Newcomer Hanzo

Blizzard has released a new gameplay video showcasing Hanzo, the stealthy bowman in Overwatch.

The video is a straight up nine-minute match that shows Hanzo climbing walls to get a better view of what’s ahead, and – obviously – him shooting a bow lots.

The match in question takes place in King’s Row, a map situated in the heart of England, which is a hybrid Capture and Payload arena.

Hanzo joins the previously-announced McCree, Zarya, and Zenyatta. The Overwatch beta is due for public consumption this autumn, but you can sign up right now over on Battle.Net.

Here Come This Month's Xbox One Preview Features

Microsoft will soon be rolling out a bunch of new features to its Xbox app for Windows 10, including DVR options, avatars, and more.

As per the latest Xbox Wire, here's what to expect on the app, currently available to those in the Windows Insider program:

Avatars - dress up and buy new items for your avatar from within the Xbox app.

Friends updates - add friends and designate them as favourites directly from the Xbox app. You'll also be able to report or block people from the app, too.

Samurai Warriors 4 II Coming to the West

Koei Tecmo is bringing Samurai Warriors 4 II to the United States on September 29 and Europe on October 2.

Samurai Warriors 4 II features a new story mode with 13 chapters and makes Naomasa Ii a playable character for the first time in the hack-and-slash series. The action game also overhauls the battle system from Samurai Warriors 4.

In addition, Koei Tecmo is including a new mode called the Endless Castle, which has players engaging in a survival scenario or battling against the clock to advance through increasingly difficult levels.

Samurai Warriors 4 II will come out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PC.

Sunset Review

The act of housekeeping sounds like a curiously mundane fit for a video game, but in its latest game Sunset, developer Tale of Tales has turned it into a welcome constant in a world of chaos. Sunset is a meditative and unnerving experience, and one I won’t forget quickly.

As Angela, a university graduate from Baltimore, Sunset tasks you with completing dull chores in a single penthouse over a series of days. I found these repetitive - the intricacies of the chores are boiled down to the click of a button - but as I quickly learned, that’s the point. The less I cared about folding clothes, the more I cared about the world around me.

Sunset is set in a fictional South American city at the beginning of the 1970s. There’s a loud revolution going on outside its floor-to-ceiling windows, yet Angela is cocooned in her wealthy trappings, and sirens and gunfire are only ever heard from a distance. Being so removed from the action encourages a sense of isolation and helplessness, echoed in Angela’s own inner monologues.

Arizona Sunshine uses the SteamVR-powered HTC Vive, making use of its motion controllers to enhance the realism of fighting the zombie horde. You'll have to manage weapons and consumables while fighting zombies that feel "close enough to touch."

It's built in bite-sized chunks, so you can stay in the zombie-smashing ride from start to finish or jump in for just a few minutes (a good option if VR makes you dizzy easily).

Arizona Sunshine is on Steam, where its release date has been given only as sometime this year.

League of Legends Testing Out Autobanning System

Riot Games launched the test phase of its new "instant feedback system" for League of Legends today in North America.

The system offers a way for League of Legends to automatically punish reported players after processing complaints sent by teammates or opponents.

It works like this: after a player is reported, the system undergoes a validation process to make sure the case is legitimate. Once it decides that it is, the system determines what kind of punishment is necessary for the offense.

Then, it emails that player a "reform card," which informs the player of their punishment and provides the chat logs evidencing the negative behavior in question. This is all meant to happen within a 15 minute window at the end of a game.

Why Is Need for Speed Being Rebooted?

EA has announced the new Need for Speed will be a “full reboot”. IGN recently spoke with Executive Producer Marcus Nilsson, who explained in greater detail why this decision was made.

"It's been going from studio to studio, and creatives were creative, but there wasn’t really a strategic way of thinking of what the brand is and what it stands for," he tells me. “For sure, it’s been delivering great experiences, but not experiences that can build on top of each other to become better and better necessarily.

“If you look at the last few games – Hot Pursuit, The Run, Shift, Rivals, Most Wanted – and you asked people, ‘What does Need for Speed stand for?’, you'd get a million different answers.

Opinion: The Witcher 3's Card Game is Better Than Hearthstone

I have a bold statement to make:

Gwent is a better card game than Hearthstone.

Ok, I know what you’re thinking: What the hell is a Gwent, and are you nuts?

Let’s answer the first question first. Gwent is the collectible card game played throughout the northern realms in The Witcher 3. While Geralt is running about slaying monsters and searching for his long lost adopted daughter, he’s also playing everyone he can in the Nilfgardian equivalent of Magic the Gathering, spending as much money (or more) on beefing up his deck as he does on food and drink. Who knew Geralt was a card flopper?

Battlefield: Hardline Criminal Activity DLC Detailed

"There’s been a recent uptick in reports in the local precincts – a rash of violent crime that is seemingly connected somehow..."

So begins the recent posting on Battlefield.com regarding the upcoming Battlefield: Hardline Criminal Activity DLC pack. The page gives us details on the new maps, weapon offerings, and even a storyline to tie it all together.

Apparently "small crews of well-trained, aggressive criminals have been using force of arms to terrorize the citizenry," the posting reads. There's evidence of a "secret crime ring that could be behind all of this activity." As you might guess, police have been given orders to put a stop to the mayhem.

Razer Firefly is a Light-Up Mousepad

Razer unveiled a new mousepad today called the Razer Firefly, a solid mat featuring Razer's Chroma lighting options. It's priced at $60 / €75 and can be pre-ordered from the Razer store now. Shipping begins on June 2nd.

The Firefly is fitted with LED lights along its left, right, and bottom borders and can be customized with different color combinations and effects via Razer's Synapse configurator.

Some visual effects include a static base color, wave motion, spectrum cycling, a steady fade-in and fade-out, and reactive lighting that triggers when you click with your mouse. The last one only works with a Razer gaming mouse.

Telltale's Game of Thrones Episode 4 Gets a Release Date

Telltale has revealed when you'll be able to play the next instalment in its Game of Thrones series.

Episode 4: "Sons of Winter" will be available on PS4, PS3, PC and Mac from Tuesday, May 26. Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners get the installment a day later on Wednesday, May 27, while it arrives on iOS and Android devices on May 28.

A new trailer for the next episode has been released, which you can see below. Episode 4 will see players venturing beyond the Wall, into King's Landing and across the sea into the slave city of Meereen.
