Tomb Raider Reboot Has Sold 8.5 Million Copies

The 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider has sold over 8.5 million copies, according to publisher Square Enix.

These impressive sales numbers put it ahead of any other game in Tomb Raider franchise history. The publisher added that it also set franchise sales records for its first day and month.

Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider explores the origin story of Lara Croft. We gave the game a 9.1 in our Tomb Raider review, calling it "a new dawn for Lara."

The upcoming sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, will follow Lara's quest to find Kitezh, a mythical city lost in Russia's Siberian tundra.
