Google Pixel 2 Live Photo Reaffirms Previous Rumors, No 3.5mm Headphone Port

As with most leaks, new information seems to be slow at first, and then there’s an increase as we get closer to the launch date. We still haven’t heard official details about the release of the upcoming Google Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL, but there has been a flood of leaks surrounding the device lately. At the end of last month there were alleged CAD renders revealed by @OnLeaks and then shortly after that a live photograph gave us a look at what many are expecting to see released later this year.

When we spoke about the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL back in June of this year, our sources had more information about the larger version than the smaller. We learned there would be major changes made to the design of the Pixel 2 XL compared to last year, but that we shouldn’t expect many changes when it came to the smaller version. It turned out this information was indeed right when the live photograph of the Pixel 2 made headlines late last week.

That image was brought into the light thanks to Evan Blass, and his sources also told them that the Pixel 2 would not have a 3.5mm headphone port. Die-hard fans of the aging audio port hoped that wasn’t true but another source today reaffirms the same rumors. The source of the images that have been published today said the unit they had their hands on did not have a port for a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The images we’re seeing today are heavily marked up with tape in what we can assume is an attempt at hiding the identifying marks. These images are clearly of a developer device and it could get the person in trouble if they were identified. The images don’t really show too much that we hadn’t seen in previous renders and the last live photo that was leaked. But this flood of leaks all but confirms what we are to expect with the upcoming release from Google.
