The LG G5 has been avoiding live images for a device that is just days away from release. But not anymore!
The LG G5 has been caught on dubizzle.com, which is Dubai’s equivalent of Craigslist, with some of its clearest pictures yet. The listing has since been removed, which adds on to the speculation that the listing indeed had a final product instead of a decoy.
Let’s take a closer look at the images.
Starting with the back, the images throw light on the dual camera setup which also features laser assisted Autofocus and dual LED flash. There’s also a fingerprint scanner at the back, and as expected now, the volume buttons have moved over to the left side of the device.
The images for the front showcase a few interesting aspects about the phone. For one, there’s a distinct demarcation below the screen, running from one edge to the other. There’s also a button towards the bottom (most visible in the back image), which could be one of two things. It could either be a dedicated shutter button, albeit placed oddly when compared to the convention of placing the shutter button on the right side of the device. Or, it could be a release button for the bottom to open up to allow for a user replaceable battery. The latter seems like a good possibility as the device looks exactly like the renders that we saw some time ago, along with the aforementioned demarcation.
The front also sports what looks like a secondary display, just below the main top bezel. However, note that @evleaks stated the G5 might not have a secondary display after all.
The live images make the LG G5 appear as an ugly device, but as we noted about the HTC One M10 Perfume, we request readers to withhold criticism on this aspect till the device is actually released. There’s also the differently colored chin marking its return from the LG G3, giving the phone a unique sense of asymmetry when you take into account the black top (likely to assimilate the dual screen when the screen is off).
The LG G5 is set to launch on next week, alongside the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Stay tuned for our MWC 2016 coverage!
