BlackBerry KEY2 LE render appears, specs confirm it’s a weaker KEY2

We’ve been hearing rumors of a lighter version of the BlackBerry KEY2 being on the horizon. While the KEY2 packed some decent enough specifications for a midrange device, at a starting price of $649 it’s a tough sell. It appeared that BlackBerry did indeed go back to the drawing board to create the BlackBerry KEY2 LE. While we didn’t know much about the device, we did get to see some images which passed through the FCC. Now, thanks to a report from AndroidPolice, we get to see even more of the device, but there’s even better news too – they also received a specification sheet. You can check out a comparison table below.

As we can see, it’s more of the same but slightly less powerful. Notable downgrades include the RAM and processor, with camera changes that are unclear currently. The keyboard has also been changed and no longer looks like to be backlit. Really all that BlackBerry needs to do is drop the price, so we can only hope that these specification slashes can cut down the price significantly. While it’s likely not going to be hugely cheaper, we’re hopeful that the BlackBerry KEY2 LE will be perfect for those who need a dedicated keyboard on their phone. There’s nothing wrong with the regular KEY2 either, many simply deemed it too expensive.

But sadly there is no information on pricing at the moment, and other potential interests haven’t leaked yet. The inclusion of features such as the headphone jack is important. That’s without mentioning the camera situation, though given how much has leaked of the device as of late, it may not be too long until we see an official release.
